So You Can Breath Again
I became a counselor because I believe people need more than advice, they need someone to show them how. Throughout my own life as a mother, spouse, single parent, student, and working professional, I often wished someone would help me understand how to navigate difficult emotions, communicate through hard moments, and create healthy change. Those experiences inspired me to create a place where people feel heard, understood, and safe while learning practical skills they can use every day.
At Assuage Counseling & Consulting, my mission is to help individuals, couples, parents, and families move through life’s challenges with confidence and hope. Whether you’re facing grief, relationship struggles, parenting concerns, or overwhelming stress, you don’t have to figure it out alone
Together, we’ll build practical tools that help you create lasting Clarity, Calmness, and Connection.
What You Can Expect

You May Be Wondering
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. If you’re feeling unsure, you’re not alone. Many people have the same questions before reaching out. Here are a few answers that we hope bring you comfort and confidence.
That’s okay. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If something feels heavy, stressful, or different than you’d like it to be, it’s worth talking about. Our first conversation is simply a chance to explore what’s going on and decide together what support would be helpful.
You won’t. At Assuage, you’ll be welcomed with compassion, respect, and understanding. Everyone has a story, and our role is to help you make sense of yours—not criticize it.
You don’t have to prepare or have the right words. Many people begin by saying, ‘I don’t even know where to start.’ That’s perfectly okay. We’ll guide the conversation and help you feel comfortable at your own pace.
Yes. Your privacy matters. Everything you share is protected by confidentiality except for a few legal and safety exceptions, which we’ll explain clearly during your first session so there are no surprises.
Meaningful change is possible. Therapy isn’t about becoming someone else, it’s about learning practical skills, understanding yourself, and making small, consistent changes that lead to lasting growth. We’ll celebrate progress, not perfection.
You’re welcome to bring your emotions into the room. Tears, silence, frustration, and uncertainty are all part of being human. You don’t have to hold everything together here. This is a safe place to be yourself.
You can expect to leave with a clearer understanding of your situation, a few practical next steps, and hope that change is possible. We’ll create a plan together that fits your goals and your life.
Therapy is not about keeping you dependent. Our goal is to help you build practical tools and confidence so you can continue growing outside of sessions. We’ll work together to make each session meaningful.
